This project was especially close to our hearts, as mothers ourselves, it carried a deep sense of purpose and connection. Our goal was to thoughtfully elevate Ms. Denise’s brand as a doula, creating something that felt both nurturing and empowering.

Through our conversations, we came to understand her vision clearly: a cozy, calming color palette, a bold and recognizable icon, and a meaningful incorporation of pregnancy imagery. From there, we developed a visual identity that balances softness with strength ,a logo system supported by custom illustrations and pattern design that feel warm, inviting, and grounded.

At the heart of this brand is inspiration drawn from granny midwives, traditional community-based birth workers, Black women in the American South, who provided holistic, generational care to mothers and babies long before modern medical systems were accessible. They were trusted healers, educators, and pillars of their communities, passing down wisdom through lived experience and deep cultural knowledge.

This brand pays homage to that legacy, honoring the care, resilience, and sacred support that granny midwives embodied, while reimagining it for a modern doula practice such as Birth At It's Best.
